چکیده

The Nakagami distribution has gained widespread application in the modeling of wireless fading channels. The primary justification for the use of the Nakagami distribution is its good fit to measured fading data. This distribution can model signal fading conditions that range from severe to moderate, to light or no fading. Despite the fact that Nakagami fading is widely used in theoretical analysis of the performances of different communication systems, very few results pertaining to the computer simulation of Nakagami fading have been reported in literature. The aim of this project is to develop a channel simulator for simulating both the amplitude and the phase processes of a Nakagami-m fading channel in Matlab. The new method of transformation mapping Rayleigh sequences into Nakagami sequences will be investigated in this regard. The statistical properties of the simulated Nakagami fading waveforms will be studied in terms of autocorrelation functions and compared with analytical results. The project presents an opportunity for the student to work on a cutting edge research problem in wireless communications.

Bit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)

In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...

A Statistical Simulation Model for Correlated Nakagami Fading Channels

Efficient simulation models for correlated Nakagami-m fading channels are required for the development, performance evaluation and validation of diversity combining systems in general fading channels. We propose a theoretical explanation of the Nakagami-m distribution, as a natural extension of the Rayleigh fading model. In this model, a Nakagami random variable is viewed as the norm of an mdim...

An Analytical Study for Two-Hop Amplify-and-Forward DS-CDMA Systems over Rayleigh/Nakagami-m Fading Channels

This paper presents analytical solutions for the performance of a single relay aided amplify-and-forward (AF) direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) system over Rayleigh/Nakagami-m fading channels. The source-destination channel is assumed to be Rayleigh distributed while relay-destination link is Nakagami-m distributed. First, a cumulative distribution function (CDF) is derive...

Performance Analysis of DS - CDMA Systems on Nakagami Fading Channels with Impulsive Noise O

Performance analysis of maximal-ratio combining receive diversity scheme over Nakagami-0.5 fading channels and its application to the multiuser detection for direct sequence-code division multiple access systems is presented in this paper. A new M-estimator, which performs well in the heavy-tailed impulsive noise, is proposed to robustify the detector. Further, the performance of Eigen mode tra...

Extremely efficient acceptance-rejection method for simulating uncorrelated Nakagami fading channels

Multipath fading is one of the most common distortions in wireless communications. The simulation of a fading channel typically requires drawing samples from a Rayleigh, Rice or Nakagami distribution. The Nakagami-m distribution is particularly important due to its good agreement with empirical channel measurements, as well as its ability to generalize the well-known Rayleigh and Rice distribut...
